ME,
THE TREE A Children’s Picture Book that is a “Can’t Put Down” for Adults |
||
| How the story of a pine cone could capture, let alone sustain the attention of an adult or child is pretty far-fetched. But using her talents as a poet, photographer and illustrator, Ann Ramsey has masterfully accomplished this feat in her debut children’s book, entitled Me the Tree. It is through the eyes of this lone pine cone that Ramsey takes us on a journey that gives the reader insight into oneself using nature as a teacher and inspiration. A phrase on the dust jacket captures the story’s essence: “Struggling to know its true self, one lone pine cone, in a forest of many, searches for an open meadow where no tree lived before, in order to become the magnificent pine tree that lives within.” A resident of Western Colorado since 1985, Ramsey has created a unique canvas on which to tell her story by capturing some stunning images on her home turf, in the mountains and forests around East Divide Creek and the Flattops, then using her skills as an illustrator to make those images come alive. Ramsey’s experience as a poet, combined with her ability as a storyteller, makes it possible for her to create an uplifting inspirational story that will appeal to kids and adults alike, and will undoubtedly entertain, as well as inspire a belief in one’s self. Ann lives in the mountains of Colorado with Honey, her Cocker Spaniel. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Colorado Independent Publishers Association and PMA (The Independent Book Publishers Association). In addition to Me the Tree, Ramsey and has published four books of poetry. Me the Tree can be found in many bookstores and libraries throughout Colorado, including: The Book Train, Through the Looking Glass, and Red Mountain Books in Glenwood Springs; Novel Tea Bookstore in Carbondale; Town Center Booksellers in Basalt; Aspen Book Store and Carl’s Pharmacy in Aspen; Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Borders in Grand Junction; and Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Borders and Tattered Cover Book Stores in the Denver area. # # # BOOK STATISTICS: |
